Platform davit is a type of gravity cantilever davit with the function of gravity lowering and power recovering. It matches with a davit-launched type lifeboat, rescue boat, or combined lifeboat rescue boat. It is installed on the broadside of the offshore drilling unit used for launching, recovering and storing above the mentioned boat. The platform davit could also be used for launching and recovering workboats or other boats.

Platform davit is designed and manufactured according to the requirements of current SOLAS and meets the requirements of RES. MSC47(66) - Amendments of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 and RES.of MSC48(66) - International Lifesaving Appliance Code and Amendments of IMO Code for the Construction and Equipment of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (1989). All appliance leave factories have completed type test or shop test according to the requirements of RES.MSC81(70) - Lifesaving Appliance Test.
