Gravity davit (gravity luffing arm type davit) including two parts, boat davit, and boat winch is the special equipment for launching & recovering a lifeboat or rescue boat (i.e recovering a lifeboat from sea level and stow it on the parent ship or launch it from the stowed position on the parent ship to sea level). The lowering of the lifeboat is dependent on its own weight with no need for power on the ship. The operator(s) within the lifeboat may control the lowering & stopping of the lifeboat by means of remote control ropes, and also the operator(s) on deck can observe the lifeboat during the whole operating process of lowering and hoisting.

The Manufacturing and testing of gravity davit are approved by Classification Society. And it compliances with the requirements of the MSC.47 (66) and MSC.216(82) - Amendments to SOLAS 1974 & MSC.48 (66) and MSC.218(82) - LSA. This product is based on MSC resolution MSC.81 (70) and MSC.226 (82) for inspection and testing by the classification societies.
